Slovensko avstralsko društvo Jadran
The club “JADRAN” was established 17.10.1971 as Slovenski Primorski socialni klub Jadran by a group of people predominantly from southern region of Slovenia.
In 1973 funds were collected from members to purchase a block of land with a residential house.
In 1977 the club built the “Kirnova koča”. The building soon became too small for the growing membership and visitors, and the members began with the construction of a larger club house. The official opening was in 1982. Subsequently sports facilities were added: for tennis, soccer, volley ball and bowling alleys.
Beside the successful sporting activities, the club supported Slovenian classes (from 1977), and held cultural events, often participating in the festivities of other Slovenian clubs and in Australian multicultural events.
